Description
Rajasthan, with its vast tracks of desert, is a place to explore on horseback. This ride gives you an excellent opportunity and experience of riding horses through rural India. Many of India’s most famed locations belong to Rajasthan – including the pink city of Jaipur and the holy city of Pushkar (famous for its annual camel fair), places familiar to many equestrians. The ride will also allow you to enjoy the Ranthambhore National Park, one of North India largest national parks. Riding through different kinds of terrain and fascinating villages in North India will prove to be an exciting opportunity of a lifetime.
Itinerary
Day 1 (October 25 2011): Arrive in Delhi (-/-/D)
Arrive at Indra Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi followed by transfer to hotel. Day of leisure followed by a late afternoon/evening tour briefing. Overnight in Delhi.
Day 2 (October 26 2011): Ranthambhore National Park (B/L/D)
Early morning drive to Ranthambhore National Park, which is considered one of the best wildlife reserves in India. Ranthambhore is the best place for sighting the famous royal Bengal tigers that move around freely and fearlessly in this undisturbed terrain. Upon arrival in Ranthambhore, transfer to Hotel. Casual ride to know your horse in the late afternoon/evening. Overnight stay at Hotel.
Day 3 (October 27 2011): Junia Village (B/L/D)
Morning ride to Junia village followed by lunch. After lunch, continue ride and arrive in Hotel.
Talk on farming and agriculture in Rajasthan in the late afternoon/evening followed by dinner. Overnight stay at Hotel.
Day 4 (October 28 2011): Meru Village (B/L/D)
Morning ride to Meru village followed by lunch. After lunch continue ride to Meru. Finally we will arrive at our campsite in Meru for overnight stay in tented accommodation.
Day 5 (October 29 2011): Pachewar (B/L/D)
Ride to Pachewar followed by lunch. After lunch continue ride to Pachewar. While riding through this area you will see quaint villages, step wells and Hindu temples that can be visited. Finally we will arrive at our campsite in Pachewar for overnight stay in tented accommodation.
Day 6 (October 30 2011): Rehlana Village (B/L/D)
After breakfast the ride to Rehlana village will commence followed by lunch. After lunch we will continue to ride through farmlands and you might also come across the Blue Bull, the largest antelope in Asia and the Desert Fox. Finally we will arrive at our campsite in Rehlana for overnight stay in tented accommodation.
Day 7 (October 31 2011): Kishangarh (B/L/D)
The ride to Kishangarh will commence in the morning followed by lunch. After lunch we will continue to ride to Kishangarh until we arrive at the campsite. In the late afternoon/evening, we will visit the Hindu temple and miniature-painting studio in Kishangarh. Finally it is back to the campsite for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 8 (November 01 2011): Maghri (B/L/D)
In the morning we will begin our ride to Maghri that will take you through villages, farmlands and sand dunes. Lunch will follow after which we will continue our ride to Maghri until we arrive at the campsite in Maghri for our overnight stay in tented accommodation.
Day 9 (November 02 2011): Pushkar Fair (B/L/D)
The ride to Pushkar will start in the morning followed by lunch. Then we will continue our ride to Pushkar until we arrive at the campsite on Pushkar cattle fair grounds. Pushkar, an important Hindu pilgrim center built around the sacred Pushkar Lake, is full of religious myths & faiths. The holy lake has 52 ghats (bathing places), where pilgrims take ritual dip in the lake. The main attraction is the temple of Lord Brahma, the god of creation. The annual Pushkar cattle fair held here on Kartik Poornima (full moon October / November), is one of the largest cattle fairs in the country. Pilgrims and tradesmen come here in thousands from all over the country to trade camels, horses, cows, goat, sheep and bulls. The fair today has become one of the major tourist attractions of the state of Rajasthan. The late afternoon/evening will be spent walking through the cattle fair grounds followed by an overnight stay at the campsite.
Day 10 (November 03 2011): Day 2 of Pushkar Fair and Savitri Temple (B/L/D)
The early morning will be spent riding through the cattle fair grounds followed by breakfast and a day of leisure. In the late afternoon/evening, we will ride through cattle fair grounds to Savitri Temple for a visit and then back to the campsite for overnight stay.
Day 11 (November 04 2011): Back to Delhi (B/-/-)
This morning the group will proceed to Delhi. Upon arrival in Delhi, departure transfer to airport to catch flight home.
