Description
One of the most actively promoted attractions in East Java today is the excursion to Mount Bromo, and Mount Semeru, situated in Tengger. Get to enjoy the spectacular sunrise over Mount Bromo, explore the spectacular Sea of Sand on a horseback or by foot, that fills the caldera of Tengger mountains and meet the native Tengger people, wrapped in cloaks riding around on their high stepping ponies. Explore the natural phenomena and the challenges while trekking to the peak of Mount Semeru 3,676 m above the sea level, as an active volcano which is the highest in Java. Pass over the beautiful high altitude volcanic lakes, tropical rain forest, and the grassland.
Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Surabaya - Cemera Lawang
Spend the night at Cemara Indah Hotel
Day 2: Cemara Lawang - Ranupane
In the morning at 04.00am, trek to the view point, to see the volcanic activities of Mt Bromo, drive to Bromo - Malang – Ranupane. Half the journey will be by 4WD.
Note: Sea of sand in Bromo is temporarily closed to visitors due to volcanic activities and there is a 3km restricted radius enforced at the moment. As such we cannot cross to Ranupane directly using a 4WD from here.
Day 3: Ranupane – Kalimati
Breakfast at base camp followed by a 7 hour trek to Kalimati. Camp overnight in Kalimati (tent)
Day 4: Kalimati - Mount Semuru summit - Kalimati - Ranupane - Malang
Wake up at 01.00am and start trekking for 4 -5 hrs to Mt Semuru. Relax and have a meal on the summit as you watch the sunrise. Descend back down to Kalimati and drive to Malang. Overnight at Helios Hotel in Malang
Day 5: Departure to Singapore
Check out and drop off in Surabaya
